The Circle of Security is a user-friendly map of child behavior and emotions. Using this map helps parents find answers to these important questions:
“Why does my child behave that way?”
“What do they need?”
“How can I best help them grow up?”
This group is based on over 60 years of research and is being used world wide to help children be happier and more responsive to their parents, develop self-control, get along better with friends and teachers, and grow to be competent in adolescence and adulthood. If you want to raise successful children, research has found that the number one predictor is a strong parent and child relationship! This group will put you on a path to strengthen this bond.
Group Description:
This 8 week group can help parents unlock the mystery to difficult child behaviors, giving parents renewed feelings of success and confidence. In fact, it helps all of us parents feel the way we want to feel toward our children.
This group includes archived taped sessions of other real children interacting with their parents, providing good examples of your child’s moment-to-moment behavior. Participants will have hands-on practice in identifying emotional cues, reading through miscues, and generating ideas to helping kids feel more secure at home and with their peers.
The Circle of Security approach is designed to help caregivers:
-
Discover what is going on inside their child during times of upset and misbehavior
-
Determine what the child needs in the moment to be able to calm down, listen, and communicate more effectively
-
Choose a strategy to meet the child’s need and shape his behavior
-
Experience more love, cooperation, and joy from their children
-
Feel happier and more successful with their children
Investment: $75/session per person ($300 reserves your spot, the remaining is due at start of group)
This group is facilitated by Vanessa Durrant, LCSWC-C, RMT, RYT, and certified Circle of Security® Parenting™ therapist. She was first exposed to Circle of Security 13 years ago and then received specialized training and supervision from Dr. Robert Marvin at the Ainsworth Attachment Clinic and the Richmond Circle of Security Network in 2013. She also continued training with Circle of Security International, in their parent group protocol. She loves to help parents tap into their innate wisdom and be the best caregivers they can be. As a mother of 2 children, she knows firsthand the joys and woes of parenthood, and how vital it is to build a supportive parent community.
